On 30th October we teamed up with MD Productions – the Liverpool dance group that got into the final of Britain’s Got Talent – to do some street outreach work with the public to make them aware of smoking in the movies; this was really good and a lot of people turned up to see the event. We handed out a lot of leaflets with information about smoking, we held up huge signs telling people what youth rated films contain smoking. The idea is that the facts about how many kids take up smoking in films is high they are actually scary facts which is where the whole ‘Scary Movies’ theme comes from. Overall the event went well and everybody seemed to have fun we got some dead gud pics too – check them out!
The reason we are doing smokefree movies is to raise peoples awareness, we are worried that the media is influencing young people by placing smoking in their films then young people start to take it up and we want it out of the movies so it will stop influencing people to start to smoke.
Keep checking our website to see what we get up to next.
